Cyclone Montha Weakens After Landfall, Causes Disruption in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha
A big storm named Montha has come ashore on the coast of a state called Andhra Pradesh.
It's not as strong now and is moving northwest, but it's still bringing a lot of rain and wind.
In a city called Vijayawada, trees were blown over and roads got flooded.
The storm also affected a nearby state called Odisha, but the leader there said it was not too bad, with only a few trees and small landslides.
People were taking precautions even though the storm wasn't as damaging as feared in Odisha.
Cyclone Montha made landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast near Narasapur, south of Kakinada, on Tuesday evening.
The storm has since weakened into a cyclonic storm and is moving northwestwards.
Heavy rain and strong winds lashed Vijayawada, causing trees to uproot and roads to become inundated.
While Andhra Pradesh experienced significant disruption, Odisha reported only minor damage like uprooted trees and small landslides.
The Chief Minister of Odisha stated that the state escaped major damage from the cyclone.
