Computer Teachers Protest in Kolkata Over Threatened Job Losses

Computer Teachers Protest in Kolkata Over Threatened Job Losses

Computer teachers in government and government-sponsored schools protested in Kolkata.

They are worried that their contracts will end and they will lose their jobs.

More than 3,000 teachers were hired through private organisations on contracts.

Some teachers said their contracts end this year, while others may end in early 2027.

The organisations reportedly sent letters saying contracts would expire on September 30.

Police stopped the teachers from entering Bikash Bhavan.

The teachers sat on the road and said they would not leave without an official promise about their jobs.

They also said their pay had recently been cut by about Rs 1,000.
