UN Limits Staff at COP30 Summit Due to Accommodation Costs
Imagine the UN is having a big meeting about climate change in a city called Belem, Brazil.
Lots of people from different countries want to go, but hotel prices have become very expensive.
The UN is asking its employees to limit how many people come because the cost is too high.
Some countries, especially poorer ones, are worried they can't afford the hotels.
The UN asked Brazil to lower the prices for the hotels but Brazil can’t offer more subsidies.
Now, everyone is trying to figure out how to make sure everyone has a place to stay without spending too much money.
The UN is urging its staff to limit attendance at the COP30 climate summit.
This is due to concerns about high accommodation prices in Belem, Brazil.
Developing countries have expressed concerns about the affordability of accommodation.
The UNFCCC asked Brazil to subsidize hotel prices, but Brazil declined.
