Review finds Babita Singh Reporting strongest in family’s darker moments
The film is about Babita and her family relationships.
The reviewer thinks the movie becomes weaker near the end.
The ending has an accident, a hospital stay, and an unusual conclusion.
The reviewer prefers two earlier scenes.
In one scene, Sharad starts a fight and then cries when Babita stands up to him.
Babita ends up comforting him even though he upset her.
In another scene, the family jokes cruelly about Babita during a boat trip.
The review says the film shows family life as difficult and painful to survive.
The review says Babita Singh Reporting loses momentum toward its ending.
Its final stretch includes a drunken accident, hospitalization, a strange denouement, and a showy cathartic moment.
The reviewer considers two earlier scenes the film’s bitter and sad emotional center.
Sharad’s argument with Babita is described as an example of emotional bullying disguised as soft new-age masculinity.
A family outing on a lake presents family as something to survive rather than cherish or simply endure.
