New Zealand Tightens Visa Rules for Indian Applicants
New Zealand is making it harder for people from India to get a visa.
Starting in late 2025, people applying for a visa must get a special police check from a specific government office in India.
Before, people could get these checks from other places, but New Zealand wants to make sure all the checks are the same and easy to check.
This will hopefully make the process faster and avoid delays.
If you've already applied for a visa with a police check, you might not need a new one, but it can’t be older than a year old.
However, the rules haven't changed for Indians living outside India or non-Indians who have lived in India.
New Zealand will only accept police clearance certificates from Indian Regional Passport Offices.
The new rule starts on December 1, 2025.
The change aims to reduce delays caused by inconsistent documentation.
Certificates must be less than six months old.
The change solely affects Indian nationals residing in India.
