CBSE Begins Digital Preparations for 2027 Class 10, 12 Exams

CBSE is getting ready for next year’s Class 10 and Class 12 exams.

It needs to check the details of millions of students before the exams begin.

Schools will submit student information online and families will be asked to verify it.

A company will scan paper forms called flying slips.

These forms contain details such as names, roll numbers and identification numbers.

Special scanners will turn the information into computer data.

The data will then be compared with CBSE’s records to find mistakes or duplicates.

This digital process is being used because checking everything by hand would take too long.

The scanning will also be used for regular and compartment examinations.

Key facts

Expected candidates: Approximately 29.89 lakh Class 10 and 12 candidates are expected to appear across 24 regions.
Class 12 students: Around 18 lakh students are expected to take the Class 12 examination.
Class 10 students: Around 25 to 26 lakh students are expected to take the Class 10 examination.
Data captured: Flying slips include the candidate’s name, identification number, roll number, centre number and subject code.
Scanning technology: The agency will use Intelligent Character Recognition, Optical Character Recognition and Optical Mark Recognition scanners.
Contract period: The selected agency will receive a two-year term contract.
Exam schedule: Year-end examinations are generally held between February and June, while compartment examinations are usually held between July and August.
