ICRA Raises Tractor Industry Growth Forecast
ICRA, a rating agency, has increased its prediction for how many tractors will be sold in India for the financial year 2025-26.
They now think sales will grow by 15-17%, which is much higher than their earlier prediction of 8-10%.
This is because more tractors are being sold now, the government reduced taxes on tractors making them cheaper, and the monsoon rains were good for farming.
Also, new rules about pollution from tractors will start next year, which might make people buy tractors sooner.
The companies that make tractors are also in good financial shape.
ICRA revised its tractor industry growth forecast to 15-17% for FY26, up from 8-10%.
November 2025 saw a 30% year-on-year growth in tractor sales, with 19% cumulative growth for the first eight months of FY26.
GST reduction to 5% on tractors has made them more affordable, with price savings ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000.
Favorable monsoon rains (108% of long-period average) have supported farm economies and rural sentiment.
Upcoming TREM V emission norms, effective from April 1, 2026, are expected to drive pre-buying activity.
