India Names First Woman Director-General of Geological Survey
India has chosen a new leader for its Geological Survey, a science organization that studies rocks and minerals.
The new director-general is Varsha Aglawe, and she is the first woman to hold this job.
She has worked at the Survey for many years and knows a lot about fossils.
She said the Survey will keep working on finding important minerals for the country.
The Survey was started in 1851 to help find coal for trains, but now it does many other science projects.
Varsha Aglawe appointed as first female director-general of GSI.
GSI, founded in 1851, is India's premier geo-scientific organization.
Aglawe joined GSI in 1992 after working with the Indian Bureau of Mines.
She identified a dinosaur nesting site in the Salbardi–Ghorpend region.
