Sebi Extends ODI Framework Implementation Timeline to November 17
Imagine India's stock market has some special tools called ODIs used by investors from other countries.
Sebi, the market's rule-maker, decided to change the rules for these tools to make sure everything is fair.
They made new rules about who can use ODIs and what they can be used for.
Some of the changes include more information about investors and what they own.
The original plan was for the new rules to start in May, but the market regulator decided to give everyone more time to adjust.
Now, the new rules will start in November, giving investors a longer period to prepare for the changes.
Sebi extended the implementation deadline for the ODI framework to November 17, 2025.
The original framework, announced in December, was scheduled to take effect on May 17, 2025.
The framework introduces stricter rules for FPIs issuing ODIs.
Additional disclosures are required from ODI subscribers and FPIs.
The extension was made to facilitate a smooth transition for market participants.
