Supreme Court stays penalties against Noida officials in NSA case

Supreme Court stays penalties against Noida officials in NSA case

Akriti Chaudhary, a Delhi University student, was detained during a case linked to worker protests in Noida.

Officials used a national security law to detain her.

The Allahabad High Court said the detention was not legally proper and canceled it.

It also ordered ₹5 lakh in compensation for Chaudhary.

The money was supposed to come from the salaries of officials involved.

The Noida district magistrate and the Uttar Pradesh government appealed that decision.

The Supreme Court has temporarily stopped the criticism and salary-recovery order.

However, it has not stopped the decision canceling Chaudhary’s detention, and it will hear the case again on October 7.
