Amit Shah Sets 2029 Deadline To End India’s Drug Trade

Amit Shah said India wants to stop illegal drugs from entering or leaving the country by the end of 2029.

He told police leaders that simply confiscating drugs is not enough.

They must find and break the groups that make and sell them.

Investigators should also follow the money used by these groups.

Different districts will receive different plans depending on whether they produce, transport, or consume drugs.

The government plans to control chemicals used to make drugs and reduce drug demand.

Volunteers in the Nashamukt Mitra programme will visit schools and colleges to warn students about drug use.

Shah said traffickers are increasingly using synthetic drugs, the dark web, cryptocurrency, and hidden delivery points.

He also called for foreign traffickers to be deported, blacklisted, or extradited for trial in India.
