Sebi to Review LODR Framework in 4-6 Months
Sebi, the organization that oversees the stock market in India, is planning to review and update its rules for companies listed on the stock exchange.
These rules, called LODR, were made to make sure companies are transparent and follow good governance practices.
Sebi's chairman, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, said this review will take about 4-6 months and will involve talking to many different people and companies.
The goal is to make the rules simpler and easier to follow.
They also want to help smaller companies, called MSMEs, join the stock market.
Additionally, Sebi is working on making the stock market safer for regular investors, especially in the area of derivatives trading, which can be risky.
They are introducing new products and measures to reduce risks and improve understanding.
Sebi plans to issue a consultation paper on the comprehensive review of the LODR framework in 4-6 months.
The review aims to simplify regulations, ease compliance burdens, and remove redundant provisions.
Stakeholders have suggested addressing ambiguities, issues with new-age companies, and promoter holdings.
Sebi is also focusing on bringing more MSMEs into the capital market and simplifying compliance processes.
The regulator is implementing measures to reduce market risk in derivatives trading and plans to introduce longer-term derivatives products.
