All Assam Employees’ Council Conference Begins in Jorhat
The All Assam Employees’ Council is having a big meeting in Jorhat.
They want the government to create a new pay commission to increase salaries and to stop the new pension plan because it's not good for employees.
They also want the old pension plan to come back and more vacation days for teachers.
They have already talked to the Chief Minister and solved some problems, but they still have more demands to discuss.
The meeting is happening over three days, and they will tell the government what they want.
The 40th Annual Conference of the All Assam Employees’ Council began in Jorhat on December 26, 2023.
Key demands include the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission and the scrapping of the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
The Employees’ Council wants the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) reinstated and earned leave for teachers increased to 30 days per year.
Several long-standing issues have been resolved, including the implementation of frisk pay and casual pay, and the provision of house rent allowance to 13,000 master roll workers.
Employees appointed before February 1, 2005, are eligible for coverage under the Old Pension Scheme, with data collection and verification currently underway.
