Telangana Courts Rule on Bail, Local Status and Judicial Appointments

Telangana Courts Rule on Bail, Local Status and Judicial Appointments

Several courts issued decisions involving Telangana this week.

The Telangana High Court refused bail to Mohammed Ghouse in a serious case involving allegations under the child-protection law.

The court said filing a chargesheet does not automatically mean someone must receive bail.

The Supreme Court of India upheld a rule requiring students to study in Telangana for four straight years before their qualifying exam to receive local status for medical admissions.

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended three chief justices, including Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, for the Supreme Court.

It also recommended that Justice T. Vinod Kumar return to the Telangana High Court.

In another case, the Telangana High Court ordered a college to return ₹3.32 lakh to a student whose admission was cancelled because her NEET score was too low.

The court said the student should not lose money because of an admission decision made by the authorities.
