Maharashtra Pharmacy Colleges Face Action Over Safety Lapses
Imagine schools that teach people about medicine are not following important rules.
The group in charge of these schools, called the Pharmacy Council of India, found that 89 schools in Maharashtra, India, were not up to the mark.
These schools didn't have enough teachers, their buildings weren't safe enough, and some lacked necessary certificates.
Because of these problems, the schools cannot accept new students in the upcoming school year.
This means students who want to study to become pharmacists will have to find other schools that meet all the requirements.
89 pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra face action from the PCI.
Colleges are barred from admitting students for 2025-26.
Inspections revealed issues with infrastructure, safety, and faculty.
The decision follows a recommendation from the Maharashtra government.
