DMK Overhauls Organisation With Age Caps and Term Limits

DMK Overhauls Organisation With Age Caps and Term Limits

The DMK is changing how its party is organised after losing an election setback.

It plans to create 110 organisational districts instead of 78.

Each new district will usually cover about two Assembly constituencies.

The separate city secretary job will end in large urban areas.

Urban committees will be created based on how many voters live in each area.

Several party jobs will have age limits and limits on how many terms a person can serve.

Reports differ over whether district secretaries can serve two or three terms.

M K Stalin said the party should study its mistakes and listen to workers and the public.
