NCP(SP) MPs Meet PM Modi, Raise Maharashtra Development Issues
Some important people who help run India went to visit the Prime Minister.
They are members of Parliament from a party called NCP(SP), whose senior leader is Sharad Pawar, and they come from the big state of Maharashtra.
The group was led by Supriya Sule, and Dr Amol Kolhe was there too.
They wanted to talk about problems in their areas, like farms, water, and building projects.
Because Parliament's meetings were not going smoothly, they wanted to bring these issues straight to the Prime Minister.
The leaders said they did not talk about politics, even though some people guessed the party might join another group of parties.
They asked for special awards for four great social reformers from the past.
They also asked for an airport to be named after a leader called D B Patil.
The newspaper reports disagree a little about when the meeting happened and how long it lasted.
Still, everyone agreed it was a friendly and useful conversation about helping Maharashtra.
A delegation of eight NCP(SP) MPs headed by Supriya Sule met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his Parliament House office.
Sule and Dr Amol Kolhe said the meeting was non-political; Kolhe called speculation about the party joining the NDA or backing the delimitation bill inappropriate.
Reports conflict on the meeting: one says it was on Sunday and lasted about 15 minutes, while another says Monday and around half an hour.
The MPs demanded Bharat Ratna for Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj.
They also sought naming Navi Mumbai International Airport after late leader D B Patil and faster progress on projects like the Nashik-Pune high-speed rail and Kalyan Murbad railway line.
