Indian Stock Market Dips Amid Geopolitical Tensions
On 20 July, the Indian stock market had a bad day.
Investors were worried because of fights happening in the Middle East, which made oil prices go up.
This made people think that banks might not make as much money, so they sold shares in private banks like Axis Bank and HDFC Bank.
Some other stocks also went down, but a few, like government banks, did better.
The main market numbers, Nifty 50 and Sensex, ended a bit lower, but the smaller companies did a little better.
The fights in the Middle East are making it hard for ships to go through an important oil route, which is making oil prices go up even more.
Indian stock market declined on 20 July due to geopolitical tensions and weak private bank earnings.
Nifty 50 ended 0.40% lower at 24,233, and Sensex settled at 77,737, down 0.53%.
Nifty PSU Bank index surged nearly 3%, while Nifty Private Bank index plunged 2.25%.
Axis Bank and HDFC Bank were among the top losers, declining 5.4% and 5.1% respectively.
Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East led to rising crude oil prices, intensifying concerns over a global energy crisis.
