Delhi HC seeks response on 'UP 77' web series release plea
The Delhi High Court has asked the government and the makers of a web series called 'UP 77' to respond to a request to stop its release.
The request was made by the wife of a gangster named Vikas Dubey, who the series is about.
The court will decide on Wednesday, December 27, whether to stop the release or not.
The series was supposed to come out on December 25 on the Waves OTT platform.
Vikas Dubey was a gangster who was killed by the police in 2020.
His wife doesn't want the series to be released because she says it shows private and false things about her and her husband without her permission.
Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Centre and producers of 'UP 77' regarding a plea to stop its release.
The plea was filed by Richa Dubey, the wife of late gangster Vikas Dubey, claiming the series contains unauthorized and defamatory content.
The web series is scheduled to be released on the Waves OTT platform on December 25.
The court will hear the matter on Wednesday, December 27, and decide whether to stay the release.
Vikas Dubey was killed by Uttar Pradesh police in 2020 after he allegedly tried to flee while being transported.
