Sitapur civic body orders SP to vacate office
The city government in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, has told the Samajwadi Party (SP) to leave their office building within 15 days.
The government says the SP was given the land in 2005 but broke the rules, so the deal was canceled later that year.
The SP says they have a valid lease and will fight the notice in court.
Some SP leaders say the government is being unfair because they don't take action against similar BJP offices.
The city government says they will use the building for public purposes.
Sitapur municipal administration issued a notice to the Samajwadi Party (SP) to vacate its district office within 15 days.
The allotment of around 3,000 square feet of land to SP in 2005 was canceled due to violation of mandatory provisions.
SP district president Chatrpal Yadav termed the notice illegal and plans to respond legally after consulting senior leaders.
Former SP MLA Anoop Gupta alleged selective action, claiming no action is taken against BJP offices on government land.
BJP district president Rajesh Shukla supported the notice, stating that illegal occupation should be vacated.
