Tata Sons Chief Says Energy and Manufacturing Will Sustain Growth
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said India’s economy is doing well, even though the world is uncertain.
He pointed to strong demand and other economic measures as evidence.
He said India needs reliable energy to keep growing.
He also wants more advanced manufacturing jobs and better education and skills training.
He said making high-quality products can help businesses invent and compete.
He urged manufacturers to make their work more sustainable, too.
India currently assembles many products, and he wants it to build more of the parts, tools and knowledge needed to make complete products.
He said this will take investment in research, equipment and intellectual property.
N Chandrasekaran said India’s economy remains robust, supported by domestic demand, services exports and an enabling policy environment.
He cited double-digit demand in auto sales, credit, power and cement, alongside a current account deficit below 1% of GDP, strong forex reserves and low bank NPAs.
He said energy security, advanced and precision manufacturing jobs, and investment in education and skills are critical to long-term growth.
He called for quality and sustainable manufacturing to drive innovation, productivity and competitiveness, citing Toyota and Germany as examples.
He urged India to build on assembly-led growth by investing in research, intellectual property, equipment and end-to-end domestic capabilities.
