Madhya Pradesh Mandates NCERT Books for Grades 5 and 8
Imagine you're in 5th or 8th grade in Madhya Pradesh.
Starting now, all the books you use in school will be from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
This means everyone is learning from the same books!
There will be a big test at the end of the year.
Plus, you'll do projects for each subject, which will count towards your final grade.
You'll get grades, not just percentages, like A+ if you do super well, or a D if you just pass.
The projects are due in January of 2026 and teachers will grade them.
The schools are told not to make parents spend extra money on these projects.
NCERT books are now compulsory for Classes 5 and 8 in Madhya Pradesh.
The change applies to government, private, aided schools, and Madarsas with UDISE code.
State-level annual examinations will be based on NCERT books.
Students will complete projects per subject, contributing to 25% of the final grade.
Projects are due January 31, 2026 and schools must ensure projects don't burden parents financially.
