WBSSC Faces Legal Challenges Over Recruitment Process
The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) is having some problems with their teacher and staff hiring process.
They had to remove 269 people who were involved in a cheating scandal from the 2016 hiring.
But now, some people think that the WBSSC is not being fair in deciding who is 'good' and who is 'bad' from that old list.
They went to the Calcutta High Court to complain.
The court told the WBSSC to publish a complete list of all the 'bad' candidates so that everyone can see who should not be hired.
The WBSSC said they need more time, but the court wants them to be quick and fair.
The Supreme Court had already said that all the 'bad' candidates from 2016 should not be allowed to apply again.
The exams are coming up soon, and the court wants to make sure everything is done properly.
WBSSC removed 269 'tainted' candidates from the ongoing assistant teacher recruitment process.
A petition was filed in the Calcutta High Court challenging the new recruitment process for non-teaching staff, alleging irregularities in classifying 'tainted' and 'untainted' candidates.
The Calcutta High Court ordered WBSSC to publish the complete list of 'tainted' candidates for Group C and Group D, citing an incomplete list currently available.
The Supreme Court had previously ordered the termination of 25,753 jobs from the 2016 tainted recruitment process and directed the WBSSC to conduct a fresh recruitment.
The WBSSC has scheduled exams for September 7 and 14, with document verification ongoing until December 4, aiming to recruit 35,726 assistant teachers.
