Is America's Political Centre Disappearing as Parties Drift to Edges?

Is America's Political Centre Disappearing as Parties Drift to Edges?

In America, there are two big political teams: the Republicans and the Democrats.

The Republicans have moved further to the right under their leader, Donald Trump.

That means they now want stronger limits on immigration and more protection for American businesses.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are seeing a rise in their progressive, left-wing members.

Some progressive Democrats just won big elections in a state called Michigan.

Voters helped them win because they are upset with the party's old leaders and because things have become more expensive.

Many voters also do not like big companies giving lots of money to politicians.

Lots of Americans actually have a mix of conservative and liberal ideas and do not fit neatly into one team.

But the two big parties are increasingly moving toward the edges instead of the middle.

Both parties want to beat the other team, but they disagree on how to do it.
