GVMC to Construct New Sewage Treatment Plants for Revenue
Visakhapatnam is making a plan to clean up its water!
Right now, a lot of dirty water (sewage) goes into the sea.
The city wants to build three new sewage treatment plants (STPs) to clean this water.
These STPs will help clean up the water and they can also sell the clean water to businesses, like factories, that need a lot of water.
This will help the city make money.
The city is also working with a big company to build some of these plants.
This should lead to cleaner water and the city making some money from the water.
Visakhapatnam currently generates 225 MLD of sewage daily.
Only 171 MLD of sewage is currently treated.
GVMC plans to build three new STPs at Appughar, Sagar Nagar and Bheemili.
GVMC generates income from selling treated wastewater and ranks third in India.
Sagar Nagar and Bheemili STPs construction is part of an IFC agreement.
