BMC halts new HC building work
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai stopped the construction of a new building for the Bombay High Court.
They did this because the workers did not follow the rules to reduce air pollution while demolishing old buildings on the site.
The BMC has specific guidelines to protect the air quality, and the construction team did not follow these rules.
So, the BMC told them to stop working until they fix the problem.
BMC issued a stop-work notice to the new Bombay High Court building complex in Bandra East.
The notice was issued for violations of air pollution mitigation guidelines during demolition.
The BMC's 28-point mitigation guidelines were not adhered to during the demolition process.
The stop-work notice is part of BMC's ongoing crackdown against violations of air pollution norms.
The new complex is being built on the site of old government buildings.
