CPI backs BRICS call for global governance and de-dollarisation

The Communist Party of India supported a recent BRICS statement about changing how the world is governed.

It said developing countries should have a stronger voice in organizations such as the United Nations.

The party also supported changes to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

It wants BRICS countries to use local currencies more often instead of relying so heavily on the US dollar.

The CPI said this could reduce problems caused by depending on one currency.

It welcomed progress in relations between India and China and said disagreements should be solved peacefully.

The party also supported calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and full United Nations membership for Palestine.

It said BRICS should turn promises about climate change, development and technology into practical cooperation that benefits everyone.
