Five Jharkhand Workers Freed After Niger Captivity

Five workers from Jharkhand, India, were held captive in Niger for eight months.

They were working for a company that lays power lines.

The Indian government and the company worked together to bring them back home.

The workers are now in Mumbai, getting health checks and filling out some papers.

They will go back to their families on January 14.

The workers earned about Rs 47,620 each month, and their families got Rs 17,000 every month while they were away.

The government also helped their families with social security schemes.

The workers were abducted by armed militants on April 25, 2025, near their work site in Niger.
