Maharashtra Education Officials Protest Cases After Malegaon Teacher Death

Senior education officers in Maharashtra are protesting in Mumbai.

They are upset about criminal cases filed after a teacher died during an official school inquiry in Malegaon.

The officers say the officials involved were doing their government jobs.

They want the cases withdrawn.

They also want departmental investigations to happen before criminal cases are filed for alleged work mistakes.

The group has made 10 demands to the government.

These include protection from arrest and reinstatement for suspended officers.

It also wants unresolved transfer, posting, and promotion matters addressed.

The protest is being held indefinitely at Azad Maidan.
