Odisha Discusses Climate Resilience and Disaster Preparedness

Odisha recently held a big meeting called Odisha Manaska to talk about how the state is handling climate change and getting ready for disasters.

Experts like Meghanad Behera from the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority and climate journalist Rakhi Ghosh shared their thoughts.

Behera talked about how Odisha has become a leader in managing disasters, especially since the big cyclone in 1999.

He explained that the state is now ready for many types of disasters, not just cyclones and floods, but also things like droughts, heatwaves, and even snakebites.

Ghosh shared stories about how climate change is affecting people, especially those who are most vulnerable.

She said it's important to include these people's voices when making plans for disasters.

The meeting also had other experts and students who discussed how well Odisha is doing in preparing for disasters and how to make sure everyone, especially those who are most at risk, is included in these plans.
