Hyundai and Kia Increase US Market Share Despite Import Tariffs
Imagine Hyundai and Kia are like two friends who sell cars in the USA.
Even with some extra taxes (tariffs) on cars coming into the country, they sold a lot of cars!
Together, they now have 11 out of every 100 cars sold in America.
That's a bit more than last year.
Hyundai sold a bit more than half of those cars, and Kia sold the rest.
The company worked hard to have lots of cars ready to sell.
But, the government might put even more taxes on cars.
This is because the government wants to protect American workers.
Hyundai and Kia achieved an 11% combined U.S. market share from January to May.
The market share increased by 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Hyundai accounted for 5.8% of the market share with 400,116 units sold.
Kia held 5.2% of the market share with 352,662 units sold.
US import tariffs are in place, with potential for further increases.
