BJP Remark on Lakshmir Bhandar Sparks Row
A BJP leader in West Bengal said that husbands should stop their wives, who get money from a government scheme called Lakshmir Bhandar, from voting for the TMC.
This made the TMC very angry, and they said the BJP is against women and Bengal.
The TMC leader, Abhishek Banerjee, said the BJP is trying to scare women from voting.
The BJP said they didn't know about the remark, but they would keep the scheme if they win and give more money.
The TMC is planning to campaign hard for the 2026 elections and says women will vote against the BJP.
BJP leader Kalipad Sengupta suggested husbands should confine women beneficiaries of Lakshmir Bhandar at home to prevent them from voting for TMC.
TMC accused BJP of being anti-women and anti-Bengal, vowing to respond at the ballot box.
BJP denied knowledge of the remark but said the scheme would continue with more money and job opportunities if they come to power.
Abhishek Banerjee accused BJP of patriarchal barbarism and threatened to scrap Lakshmir Bhandar.
