Jackfruit Causes Bus Driver to Fail Breathalyzer Test
A bus driver in Kerala failed a breathalyzer test, but he hadn't been drinking alcohol.
He had eaten a lot of ripe jackfruit.
Other employees who ate the same jackfruit also failed the test.
This happened because very ripe jackfruit can start to ferment and create tiny amounts of alcohol.
This alcohol can cause the breathalyzer to give a false positive reading, making it seem like the person has been drinking.
A KSRTC driver failed a breathalyzer test after consuming jackfruit.
The driver insisted he hadn't consumed alcohol and offered a blood test.
Three other employees who ate jackfruit also failed the test.
Follow-up tests confirmed jackfruit caused the positive readings.
Overripe jackfruit can ferment, producing trace amounts of alcohol.
