ED to Question Ex-Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in Payoff Case

ED to Question Ex-Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in Payoff Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India is investigating a case where a former Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, and his daughter Veena Vijayan are alleged to have received payments from a company called Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd.

(CMRL).

The ED says that these payments, totaling Rs.

2.78 crore, were made between 2017 and 2020 without any actual services being provided.

The ED has found evidence that suggests these payments were based on personal relationships and not for any legitimate business purposes.

The ED is now planning to question Pinarayi Vijayan based on statements from the former Managing Director of CMRL, Sasidharan Kartha.

The ED also alleges that there were other financial irregularities involving CMRL, totaling Rs.

182 crore over 15 years.

Pinarayi Vijayan has not publicly commented on these allegations.
