Nepal-Tibet Floods Kill At Least 160, Aid Mobilizes

A very large flood carrying mud and debris hit parts of Nepal and Tibet.

It damaged homes, roads, bridges and power projects.

Reports say at least 160 people died, but some later reports gave higher numbers.

Many people, including tourists and foreign visitors, are still missing.

The flood may have started after ice or an avalanche blocked water and then suddenly broke apart.

Some reports say there was little or no rain nearby, so people had little warning.

Helicopters and rescue teams are searching for survivors and bringing supplies to isolated communities.

The United States promised $500,000 and a disaster adviser.

India, China, Bangladesh, the United Nations and the World Bank also said they would help.
