India Plans Major Education Reforms
India's Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, announced big changes in the courses at National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
Starting next year, these courses will focus on new technologies.
The government also wants PhD students to work on real-world problems instead of just writing papers.
They will keep teaching in local languages too.
This is part of India's plan to become a knowledge-based economy.
The minister made these decisions after meetings with important education leaders.
India plans to reorganize NIT courses to focus on emerging technologies starting next academic year.
Shift towards product-based PhDs that solve real-world problems.
Mother-tongue-based learning will continue to be prioritized.
Curriculum will be aligned with national priorities and industry needs.
