India Sets SAF Blending Targets for 2027-2030
India has set goals to mix special green fuel with regular airplane fuel.
By 2027, 1% of the fuel should be green, increasing to 5% by 2030.
This is to help reduce pollution from flights.
India is also getting ready for new global rules that start in 2027, which will make airlines pay for extra pollution.
The government is working with companies to make this happen, even though it's challenging and costly.
This is part of India's promise to help the environment.
India has approved SAF blending targets: 1% by 2027, 2% by 2028, 5% by 2030.
Airlines must offset emissions above 2019 levels starting 2027 under CORSIA.
India has joined ICAO's ACT-SAF program to adopt cleaner aviation fuels.
SAF targets initially apply to international flights departing from India.
Public sector oil companies are engaged in meeting SAF targets despite challenges.
