Mumbai Crime Branch Busts Two Goa Cyber Fraud Gangs

Mumbai Crime Branch investigated two groups operating from villas in Goa.

Police say the groups helped move money from cyber fraud through bank accounts belonging to other people.

These accounts are called mule accounts.

Police said more than ₹1,000 crore passed through such accounts in six months.

The first raid at a Calangute villa arrested 12 people and froze about ₹100 crore.

The second raid arrested seven people accused of helping cheat victims of around ₹400 crore.

Investigators said the groups used an application and received instructions from Dubai-based masterminds.

Police said there is currently no evidence that the two gangs were directly connected.
