Bombay High Court Denies Interim Relief in Copyright Row
The Bombay High Court recently refused to grant an interim relief to Trimurti Films, which had accused Dharma Productions and Saregama India Ltd of infringing the copyright of its song 'Saat Samundar Paar'.
The court found that Trimurti Films did not prove that the agreement with Saregama India Ltd limited the use of the song to making records and cassettes only.
The defendants argued that they had previously used the song in other projects and that removing it now would harm their upcoming movie.
The court agreed that granting the relief would cause significant prejudice to the defendants, so it denied the request.
The song, a remake from the 1992 film 'Vishwatma', has also faced massive social media backlash for its modern reinterpretation and execution.
