Karnataka to Re-Verify Gruha Lakshmi Beneficiaries Biometrically
Karnataka gives money each month to women who are the heads of their households through the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme.
The government wants to check that people receiving the money are still eligible.
Officials will visit beneficiaries’ homes beginning August 30.
They will ask families to complete forms and will use fingerprints or facial checks.
Officials will also take a photograph and record the location of each home.
People who are not at home can complete the check at certain service centres or Fair Price Shops.
The government says the review is needed because some beneficiaries may have died, moved, or started filing income-tax or GST returns.
The review is expected to finish within a month and has a grant limit of Rs 20 crore.

Door-to-door verification will begin August 30 and is scheduled to finish within one month.
Enumerators must distribute and collect forms, capture photographs, and record beneficiaries’ household GPS coordinates.
Beneficiaries absent during visits can authenticate at Fair Price Shops, Karnataka One, Grama One or Bengaluru One centres.
The exercise has a grant limit of Rs 20 crore and will use a mobile or web application developed by EDCS.
