RBI Governor Warns Today’s Resilience Cannot Guarantee Future Immunity

India’s economy is doing well, but that does not mean it is safe from every future problem.

The governor said conflict in West Asia and higher prices for important goods could still affect the country.

He said India’s strong economy and financial system can help it handle shocks.

India is also trying to rely on more sources for imports and build up supplies of important resources.

It is working to improve energy security and domestic manufacturing.

Malhotra warned that future financial trouble could start outside the financial world.

For example, a conflict, cyberattack or technology failure could create problems for banks and other systems.

He said policymakers need better information and stronger protection across the whole system.
