Manipur Imposes Rotational Power Cuts Amid 90 MW Shortage

Manipur Imposes Rotational Power Cuts Amid 90 MW Shortage

Manipur does not currently have enough electricity to meet its highest demand.

The state can access about 180 megawatts, but demand can reach 270 megawatts.

This creates a shortage of 90 megawatts.

To keep the electricity grid stable, officials have introduced temporary rotational power cuts.

Hydropower production has fallen because rainfall has been irregular.

The company also blamed coal shortages for reducing thermal power generation.

It said electricity is not sufficiently available in the energy market either.

Officials are looking for ways to shorten the interruptions and restore normal supply.
