FY25 Tax Filing: New Slabs and Capital Gains Changes
The government has changed the income tax rules for the financial year 2024-25.
Under the new rules, if you earn up to 12 lakh, you won't pay any income tax.
If you make more than 12 lakh, your income will be taxed in different slabs.
Also, if you sell stocks or other investments after a year, you'll pay a higher tax (12.5%).
If you sell them sooner, it's an even higher tax (20%).
If you sell a house, the tax has been changed too.
Finally, if you work in the private sector and contribute to a retirement plan through your company, the company can contribute more to the plan and you get a bigger tax break.
New tax slabs and capital gains tax structure introduced in Union Budget 2024.
Individuals with taxable income up to Rs 12 lakh receive full tax rebate under the new regime.
