Bengal LPG Distributors Urge e‑KYC Completion by August 16
In Bengal, people who use LPG gas for cooking need to prove their identity with a biometric scan by August 16.
This is called e‑KYC.
Distributors say only a few hundred of the many people who still need to do it are showing up.
If you don’t finish it, you can’t get the cheap gas until you do.
Some people are giving up extra gas connections because of the new rule.
The government wants to make sure everyone who gets the subsidy is a real customer.
Domestic LPG consumers in Bengal must complete biometric Aadhaar e‑KYC by August 16 to keep domestic‑rate cylinders.
Distributors report only a few hundred of 8,000‑plus pending connections are turning up for verification.
About 77 % of Bengal’s 1.4 crore LPG users have already finished e‑KYC, leaving 23 % to comply.
Failure to complete e‑KYC by the deadline will make consumers ineligible for subsidised cylinders until they do.
Some consumers are surrendering multiple connections after receiving the e‑KYC reminder.
