LG Engages Village Heads to Strengthen Grassroots Governance in Ladakh

Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, met with nearly 200 village heads called numberdars.

They spoke about problems and development needs in their communities.

The numberdars said dozens of villages were facing a serious water shortage.

Saxena said their concerns would be treated as a priority.

He said village heads know local conditions and can help the administration understand what people need.

He also said their suggestions had helped guide projects and policy decisions.

The numberdars thanked him for raising their monthly payment from Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000.

The increase applies to 247 numberdars across Ladakh.

Saxena said the administration would continue holding such conversations.
