India Seeks Flexibility and Climate Finance Ahead of COP31
India has asked countries to work together more flexibly before the next major UN climate meeting.
Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav spoke at a preparatory meeting in Fiji.
He said countries agree on more than they disagree about.
He also said promises to tackle climate change need to be put into action.
India says developing countries need more money, technology and training to do this.
Yadav said each country should be able to choose a path that fits its own needs.
He pointed to parts of the Paris Agreement dealing with climate finance and cooperation.
The next climate summit, COP31, is planned for Antalya in November.
Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav called for flexibility, pragmatism and mutual respect in climate negotiations.
At Pre-COP31 in Fiji, Yadav said countries have more areas of agreement than disagreement.

India wants countries’ nationally determined implementation paths to reflect their circumstances and development needs.
