Mumbai BMC Elections Heat Up
Mumbai is getting ready for its big city elections called BMC elections.
The city is cleaning up all the places where people will vote.
The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, visited a place called Worli's BDD Chawl and talked to the people living there.
They were happy because he helped them get new homes.
There are 227 areas in Mumbai where people will vote, and more than 1.7 lakh people are running for these areas.
The voting will happen on January 15, and the results will be counted the next day.
The city is also making sure that everyone, especially old people and those who need help, can vote easily.
There is a big fight between two groups: the BJP and the Thackeray camp.
The BJP says the Thackerays are not following their old beliefs and are trying to please certain groups.
The Thackerays are trying to bring back the old feelings of Marathi pride to get more votes.
The results will show who is winning this fight.
BMC launched a two-day cleanliness drive across 10,231 polling stations, deploying over 20,000 sanitation workers.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Worli's BDD Chawl, where residents praised him for the housing redevelopment project.
The BMC elections are scheduled for January 15, 2026, with 227 wards and 1,700 candidates.
Special facilities, including 4,200 mobile toilets and 6,000 wheelchairs, will be provided at polling stations.
The elections are seen as a straight contest between the two rival Sena factions (Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde), with the BJP accusing Thackeray of abandoning Hindutva and indulging in minority appeasement.
