Delhi Launches Lakshmi Yojana: ₹2,500 Monthly Aid for Women
Delhi has started a new program called the Lakshmi Yojana that gives women a little money every month.
Women who are 21 to 60 years old and earn up to ₹2.5 lakh a year can get ₹2,500 each month.
They can choose to put part of the money in a savings account and the rest in a special digital wallet, or put all of it in a savings account.
The government will start accepting applications on August 1 and the first payment will be around the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
The plan is meant to help 17 lakh women and will run for three years, with a budget of ₹5,110 crore.
Scheme offers ₹2,500 monthly to women aged 21‑60 with family income up to ₹2.5 lakh, excluding those with more than three children or high electricity usage.
Two payment options: ₹1,500 in RD/FD plus ₹1,000 to a CBDC Digital Rupee Wallet, or full ₹2,500 in RD/FD.
Application portal opens Aug 1; first instalment expected around Raksha Bandhan.
Eligibility requires 10‑year Delhi residency, no criminal record, and no government employee or four‑wheeler in the household.
Projected to help 17 lakh women, funded ₹5,110 crore in the 2026‑27 budget.
