Mizoram Governor Extends Rule in Chakma Council
The Governor of Mizoram, Vijay Kumar Singh, has extended the Governor's rule in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) for another six months.
This decision was made because there has been a lot of political instability and frequent changes in the council members' allegiances.
The governor appointed the Lawngtlai deputy commissioner as a caretaker to manage the council's functions.
The CADC was created in 1972 to look after the welfare of the Chakma tribal people in Mizoram.
The council has 24 seats, with four being nominated.
Currently, the BJP has seven members in the council.
The governor's rule was first imposed last year due to similar issues, and it has been extended now because the situation has not improved.
