IIT Bombay-incubated SEDEMAC Mechatronics dominates India's ISG ECU market

There is a company in India called SEDEMAC Mechatronics that started at IIT Bombay in 2007.

It makes the small computer brain inside motorcycles and scooters that helps them start smoothly.

Normally, bikes use a small sensor to know where the engine is, but that sensor can break from heat, dust, and vibration.

This company invented special software that figures out the engine position without that sensor.

Because of this, their product is more reliable and cheaper to make.

Today, this company makes more than 8 out of every 10 new starting systems for two- and three-wheelers in India.

Its profits grew a lot last year, and its revenue crossed ₹1,000 crore for the first time.

Now it wants to use the same idea for electric vehicles, power tools, and generators.

Many investors have bought its shares, and the price has gone up a lot.

Some people worry the shares are now too expensive, but the company hopes to keep growing.
